Knot n Co was established by the owner Sharif Barez as an ecommerce platform for a better consumer experience when exploring the world of Handmade Rugs. The Barez family, the largest migrant Afghani family in Australia established itself as an importer/wholesaler of Handmade Rugs in Australia and New Zealand 25 years ago. Sharif’s father a dentist by trade first introduced Handmade Rugs when he fled Afghanistan to come to Sydney in early 90’s. His first rug ever was brought in a suitcase and was sold to a renowned retailer in the eastern suburbs. Since then, Sharif’s family has been a leader in the wholesale sector of Handwoven Persian rugs and Afghan rugs.
Sharif Barez who has a strong connection to the corporate sector and has worked for over 10 years as a Banker with the Big 4 banks in Australia decided it was time the business went direct to customers outside of their usual B2B operation. Through this venture Knot n Co was established as an alternative for consumers who are looking for better-priced Handmade Rugs in a pressure-free environment.
